A quick professional search with Berwick Emergency Services
A quick professional search with Berwick Emergency Services was carried out when the alarm was raised by Northumbria Police on Sunday 10th May of a reported missing person.
The police notified HM Coast Guard and they requested the launch of Berwick inshore life boat at 9.36am and the all-weather lifeboat at 9.50.
The female casualty was located by HM Coast Guard who found her on Murphy’s Beach Berwick. She was drifting in and out of consciousness and was placed aboard the inshore lifeboat then transferred to the all-weather lifeboat and treated on board by crew. The lifeboat quickly made its way back to the lifeboat station to awaiting Northumbrian Ambulance Paramedics where she received further treated before being taken to hospital.
Lifeboat Operational Manager Tom Wakenshaw said, ‘This was a quick and professional search by all services, where great teamwork was demonstrated by all concerned working together’.
